Cross Stitch Christmas Ornament

I have three ideas for Christmas ornaments that are easy to make for yourself or to give as a gift. This week's diy is a cross stitch ball with frayed edges.

Supplies:
A satin or fabric ball ~ You will be sticking pins into it.
10" x 2 1/2" piece of Aida 10 count fabric

Colored straight pins (I used red and white.)

How to make it:
Use straight stitches and cross stitches to make the words and Christmas tree.  I used DMC 699 Christmas green, 975 dark golden brown, and 666 bright Christmas red.

Use a needle to fray the long edges of the fabric by gently pulling out the thread.

Use the colored straight pins to secure the Aida to the ball (I put them in the tree and long the back edge where the fabric overlapped.
