Fabric Wine Bag DIY

BYO restaurants are very popular in our area.  It is perfect for us since my husband and I enjoy dining with our own favorite wine.
These bags are just perfect for carrying that special bottle or for gift giving.  You can pick fabrics for a holiday or just ones that make you happy ~ it is also a great way to use up some of the fabric in your stash!

Materials needed:
2 coordinating fabrics (approximately 1/4 yard of each)

Procedure:
Cut your two fabrics into 131/4" x 16" rectangles
Cut a circle with a 4 1/2" diameter
For a wider tie (gray and gold bag) cut a 23" x 3 1/2" strip of fabric
For the thinner tie (red bag) cut a 23" x 1 3/4" strip of fabric.

Fold the two rectangles together along the longer edge, pin, and sew with a 1/4 seam.

Insert the lining fabric into the tube made by the outer fabric ~ right sides facing each other.

Pin and sew the two pieces together along the top edge using a 1/4" seam.

Pull the lining out so that you now have one long tube.

Tuck the lining inside the outer fabric.

Line up the folded edge and press.  We will come back to this.

Now for the bottom edge.  Baste the two unfinished edges together so that you can treat them as one.  Carefully clip around the circle ~ don't cut into your stitching.

With wrong sides together ease in the bottom circle; pin.

Sew using a 1/4" seam.

Turn right side out.

Now back to our top edge.
Topstitch ~ remember that this will be folded over, so use the thread that you like for the lining fabric.

Fold the lining over the outside fabric.

The tie
Fold the short edge of each end of the stip 1/4" and press.

Fold the fabric in half and press.  Fold each edge into the center fold and press.

Fold in half and sew 1/4" from the edge.

Tie around the bottle, and you are finished!
